The Irving Art Association sponsors numerous art activities in support of its mission to to promote visual arts in Irving:

Artist of the Month: A free competition open to all IAA members. Bring your paintings to the meetings September through April. Winners will be displayed at the Center for a month and receive ribbons and prizes.

Corporate Art Appreciation Program (CAAP): CAAP program gives its member artists a unique opportunity to display their work in Irving. Venues include hotels, retirement homes, the public library and other local businesses and institutions. Interested artists can contact CAAP Chair Frankie Sieloff Couch at 972-255-3468 or

Demonstrations: Free art demonstrations are part of IAA member meetings, which are held on the fourth Tuesday of the Month, September through May, at 7:00 pm. Visitors are welcome. For a list of demonstrators, see the current Schedule.

Exhibits: 22 exhibits presented each year at the Jaycee Park Center for the Arts or at the Irving Arts Center

Library: The IAA Library offers members a selection of more than 400 books and videos on art.

Membership: For only $30 per year, you can join the Irving Art Association! New levels: senior, family etc.

The IAA also extends free associate membership to all Irving public school art teachers. Plus we have a new program for local art associations — Organizational Membership. Email for details.

Painting Groups: Open to the public:

  • Tuesdays 10-3 Tuesday Painters Group (bring a sack lunch; oil painters, please use odorless turps)
  • Thursdays 10 – 3 Thursday Painters Group: Oriental Brush Painting (The Association of Oriental Arts (TAO)
  • Open Art Night. Meets every second Friday evening of the month from 6:30 until 10pm. You can work on individual or group projects.
  • Art Movie Night. Meets every third Friday evening of the month.

Scholarships – Every year the IAA gives away a $1,000 scholarship to a local  high school senior planning to major or minor in art. Supporting art education is one of the founding purposes of the association and awarding scholarship is a long-time tradition.

Workshops & Classes: Several workshops each year conducted by professional artists, plus other workshops cosponsored by IAA and other art organizations. Contact for more information.
