Congratulations to those twelve Irving Art Association members whose work was chosen for the 2016 Texas & Neighbors Exhibition: Helen Bailey, Lynne Buchanan, Annanya Chowdhury, Katherine Elliott, Ann Hardy, Navneeta Khemka, Deepa Koshaley, Suzanne McNeill-Sparks, Ashley Milow, Gwen Revino, Ron Stephens, and Cynthia Stone.
Nancy Paris Pruden has a feature article in Southwest Magazine March issue on the Art of Texas. She will also be teaching two workshops in Park City details TBA.
Sharon Giles will be teaching a Gelli Print Workshop at the Trinity Arts Guild gallery in Bedford on March 17th. Registration details.
Sharon Giles demonstrated Acrylic Gelli printmaking for Texas Area Artists in Mesquite on Jan. 3 and suminagashi marbling for the Irving Garden and Arts Club on Jan. 14.

Janice Hamilton will also demonstrate pastels at the Nov. 17th meeting of the Richardson Civic Art Society.
Sharon Giles won an Award of Achievement at the Society of Watercolor Artists Members Show in Fort Worth for “It’s A Wonderful 9 Lives”. She also demonstrated gelli-printing for the Trinity Art Guild in Bedford on Nov. 2.

HIRAL JOSHI has been certified as an Grumbacher Acrylic Painting Instructor in the Michaels store in Irving, Tx. Grumbacher /Chartpack has a partnership with the Michaels stores nation-wide for their certified instructors to teach in the Michaels store. Beginners, children and adults are all invited to register at the Michaels Irving, Macarthur store.
Julie England has moved into a new art studio in the Dallas Design District where she continues her oil painting while taking classes at SMU to pursue her craft, after completing her Associates in Arts degree in May. Together with another artist, Ted Houston, Julie has signed a one-year contract to hang dozens of paintings in the Parker University, School of Massage Therapy building. Several IAA members had artwork in the 2015 Art Connection Exhibit at the Irving Arts Center: Pat Arnold, Sharon Giles, Jene Gravely, Hiral Joshi, Susan Murray, and Maria Cristina Noriega — to name a few. Jene won 1st Place in the Non-Professional Category and Maria won 2nd Place in the Professional Category! Catch the interview with Pat Arnold in the video of the reception:
Helen Bailey, who is the juror for the Wildlife and Domestic Animal Art Show now hanging in our gallery, had a One-Woman Show (all colored pencil art) in July, 2015 at The Martin Place in McKinney, TX. She also won Best of Show at the 2015 Edyth Horton Art for Horses Show in Lakewood, CO for my colored pencil drawing, Looking Out For Me. The show will hang until September 22nd.
