Irving Art Association invites artists to participate in the Indian Folk Art exhibition, a celebration of Indian culture and heritage. The open call exhibition is an opportunity to expose and feature mid-career and emerging artists from around the Dallas Fort worth Metroplex whose submitted works relate to themes around Indian culture and heritage. Indian paintings have a very long tradition and history in Indian art. Madhubani, Miniature Paintings, Warli, Kalamkari, Mughal, Mysore, Tanjore, Patachitra, & all traditions and styles of Indian Paintings are welcome!

DEADLINE for submitting entry: Jan. 20, 2017
Acceptance Notifications sent: January 22
Deliver work to Gallery: Saturday, January 28 10 am – 2 pm
Hanging: Saturday, January 28 1 pm – 4 pm
Gallery opens to public: Sunday, January 29
Reception: Friday, February 3 6:30 – 8:30 pm (update)
Pick up: Tuesday, February 24 10 am – 1 pm

Entries are original fine arts and crafts created by the applying artist(s) in the media or genres of Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Photography, Pottery, Textiles, Glass, Jewelry, Leather, Metal, Wood, and Miscellaneous.

Images: Please name your images with your last name, first name or initial, and the title of the artwork. Limit of 3MB per image. Note that images should total 10MB or less.

Framing & Presentation of artwork:

Artwork must not exceed 36” x 36” framed nor be heavier than 20 lbs. Artwork must be framed and wired. Plexiglas only for work over 16″x 20″ (exception pastels). No saw-tooth hangers. Wrap around canvas painted on all sides may be used instead of a frame.

3D items would need to be displayed in box frames, wall display cases or shadowboxes or hung on the wall. Contact the curator about displaying sculpture or pottery on a pedestal. We have limited space for that.

Jury Fee: $5 for each entry, payable at dropoff.
