Award Winners of the 2019 Animal Awards Competition

For the 18th year, IAA has hosted a competition on animal art. Formerly a national show, this is the second year we have featured a regional scope, putting the emphasis on DFW area artists.

Any animal species was accepted as subject matter for works, including wildlife and domestic, as well as creatures from fantasy, mythology, and Cryptozoology. In 2019, the special challenge category is that essentially Texas animal, the Armadillo.

Ruben Contreras receives Best of Show award

This year 35 artists of all ages entered over 70 pieces of artwork. The show is on display through September 27th.

Our awards judge this year is Todd Eric Hawkins, Executive Director of the Irving Arts Center. Co-curator Susan Murray and Todd presented the awards on Sept. 8th at the Reception.
