2022 Texas & Neighbors update

The entry deadline for this year’s 37th Exhibition was March 7th, and the show again received a record number of entries — 323 artists with 880 works of art. Juror Billy Hassell, a nationally-known Fort Worth artist, selected 86 works of art from this huge pool for this year’s exhibition at the Irving Arts Center.

This year’s show includes eight media categories: acrylic, drawing (dry media), mixed media / other media, oil painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture / 3-D, and water media. For more about the show, see TexasandNeighbors.com.

During the last two years, the pandemic has caused problems in the scheduling of the show — in 2020 the exhibit was virtual-only, and in 2021 we returned to holding a physical exhibit but held no receptions. In response, in 2021 the Irving Arts Center began publishing virtual tours of their exhibits to reach those reluctant to travel and so to expand the audience. This 2022 show reflects the current optimism and will be both a physical exhibit and live receptions, plus the new tradition of virtual tours.
