2021 Texas & Neighbors Regional Art Exhibition update

The entry deadline for this year’s 36th Exhibition was March 1st, and the show again received a very competitive number of entries — 283 artists with 771 works of art. Juror Andrea Karnes, Senior Curator at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, selected 82 works of art from this huge pool for this year’s exhibition at the Irving Arts Center.

Last year two new media categories were added: Photography and Sculpture. This year’s show includes seven media categories: 17 acrylics, 14 drawings, 9 mixed media, 14 oil paintings, 8 photographs, 7 sculpture, and 13 water media.

Congratulations to those 15 members of the Irving Art Association who were accepted into the show.

Last year’s show was virtual-only due to problems caused by the pandemic. This year’s show will be a physical exhibit but with no live receptions. Instead, there will be a virtual awards presentation and a video. The show will open to the public on Saturday, May 15. Gallery hours: Tuesday-Saturday: noon to 5 PM. Free reservations, with social distancing and masks observed. A catalog will also be available, and the Irving Arts Center website will offer a 360-degree video tour of the exhibit.

The show is a joint effort by the Irving Art Association and the Irving Arts Center. Our thanks go to Marcie Inman, Director of Exhibitions & Education at the Irving Arts Center, and to IAC staff. Also to this year’s Show Chair John Hunter; Sharon Giles, Webmaster; the Irving Art Associaton Board; and IAA volunteer members. Contact IAA at info@texasandneighbors.com.
