Acrylic Pouring Techniques with String May 3

This Open Art Meetup: Acrylic Night is dedicated to doing acrylic pouring – specifically working with string and chains to create interesting designs — flowers, feathers or abstract. (if you wish to work on another art project or pouring technique, you can, of course.)

For videos on technique see the playlist on string and chain techniques for pouring paint at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLl-w4JxzL7QvwuLC1JeJJRoqhpSjqNhSH

Note: instruction is FREE but bring your own supplies! (see optional pouring support kit For $5 below) Sharon Giles will be the instructor.

TO REGISTER, sign up through our Meetup site or email sharongiles@gmail.com.

Doors open at 6:30 pm. Free demonstration starts at 7pm so don’t be late.

SUPPLIES REQUIRED:

  1. acrylic paint, any kind (a few colors plus black & white)
  2. a couple of small canvases or canvas boards — 12×12 or smaller
  3. Important! Bring trays or cardboard lids to move your wet paintings home. Paintings will take 2 or 3 days to dry. We will again have a drying table where you can leave small canvases for drying.

Other supplies needed: pouring medium (Floetrol), plastic gloves, stirring sticks, paper & plastic cups, paper towels, baby wipes, thumbtacks, string (make sure it’s pliable — not stiff) or fine chains (like necklace chains)

The optional Pouring Support Kit will be $5 and brings supplies for a couple of small paintings: pouring medium (Floetrol), plastic gloves, stirring sticks, paper & plastic cups, paper towels, baby wipes, thumbtacks, string & handout. I’ll also share my silicone and kitchen torch or crafters heat tool. NOTE: the kit doesn’t include paint, canvases, and trays.

You can bring your own supplies if you don’t want to purchase the kit. RESERVE your kit by posting a comment or emailing sharongiles@gmail.com. IMPORTANT: if you buy the pouring support kit, you still need to bring acrylic paint, small canvases & trays.
