Now is a good time to make a Peace Pole.
Friday, January 11th 7-9pm. Doors open at 6:30.
Location: Jaycee Park Center for the Arts, 1975 Puritan, Irving TX 75061.
Open Art meetups are sponsored by the Irving Art Association. These workshops are FREE but supplies are required.
Peace Poles started in Japan in 1916. The idea was to paint messages of peace on poles across the country to spread the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth”
Now is a good time to spread the word of peace again don’t you think?
Bring a pole, fence picket or some scrap wood, acrylic paint, brushes and if you want stencils. You will want to wear an apron or old clothes and bring a box or something to carry your pole home in. If you paint a fence picket or square pole you can leave one side unpainted to make the transport home easier.
