THE FIRST FRIDAY OF THE MONTH: We’re dedicating this night to acrylic paint. You can paint with it, do printmaking or gelli printing, pour it, create art journal pages etc. Your choice. Best of all, it’s FREE.

If you’re a newbie in a certain technique like pouring or gelli printing, post a comment on our Open Art Meetup site about the type of assistance you’d like or email us at info@irvingart.org. We’ll do our best to assist.

We’ll repeat first Friday night of each month. Upcoming schedule: August 3, Sept. 7, Oct. 5, Nov. 2. Sign up at our Open Art Meetup site or email us at info@irvingart.org.

Doors open at 6:30 pm and the session is 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Held at the Jaycee Park Center for the Arts, 1975 Puritan, Irvng TX 75061. (And if you don’t want to play with acrylic, just bring your latest art project to work on.)

Supplies needed: acrylic paint, of course, paper or canvas or even your art journal, water container, paper towels, apron and tools etc.

If you are doing acrylic pours, also bring silicone or dimethicone, pouring medium (Liquitex Pouring Medium or GAC 800 or Floetrol or even PVC Glue), a surface to pour on (small canvas, boards, paper, ceramic tiles), cups to mix paint in, a box or tray to pour over, and plastic gloves. You will also need to bring something to transport your wet art on — like a box top or cardboard. Note: we’ll help out newbies with supplies, but bring at least your acrylic paints and a surface to our on.

This is a social time too, so feel free to bring refreshments to share.
